Is texting while driving safe?

With that being said, if you watched that video, they said the average driver drives impaired equal to being TWICE the legal limit of alcohol intoxication. This is about driving distracted or not. This is a matter of life or death. I fear a government that will restrict everything we do. Perhaps we need to police our selves so the government does not feel the need to make rules for everything we do. Any thoughts on that? Anyone? Steve (swstout)??? If we policed ourselves stuff like this would not happen to require government intervention. I was in the fire service, I turned in my badge 8 years ago. Every single tragic accident and even close call I saw was do to drivers not paying attention to the road. Nearly everyone with a cell phone is guilty of looking at it while driving, I know I am "Thank god for the road reflectors that tell us when we cross over". This is not some government conspiracy to take away our rights. We have no right to kill others, this is simply a fact that if we cant be responsible enough to opporate a motor vehicle in a safe manor than laws will be put in place so that we pay for our mistakes. It is very unfortunate the kid in the video is behind bars, clearly there is remorse for what happened but imagine the children that will never see there fathers again. Its a tough one to swallow, Especially for those of us that have small children of our own.
