I came across Clarance this afternoon making his way across a road and pulled over for a pic with him. These are called snapping turtles and get up to over 25 lbs+around my area and perhaps bigger down south. Mostly used for turtle soup Clarance was a little small around 15 lbs. Those jaws and neck are lightning fast. I used to seine minnows as a young boy for extra money and one day a friend got one out of the nets and decided to carry him back to the truck about a 1/2 mile away. It wasn't long and I could tell that his arm was getting tired and dropping just to close. whack! took a nice spoon size chunk out of his leg. LMO

That's great

You know, it would be funny if you put a little story together like you just told me about how you found Clarence walking across the road. Then send the story and the picture into the local paper.

Maybe say something like be careful this time of year, the snapper turtles may be crossing the roads more to find a spot to hibernate for the winter.

Who knows maybe something like that would be published if they had extra space
