Lawn care business tips
Hi David,

Welcome to our forum.

With all your printing experience, have you found landscapers or lawn care professionals tend to choose one marketing method over another?

For instance, do they prefer, door hangers, flyers, postcards? Or what is your view which works best?

Steve,

Flyers with pictures, you want to have a good looking flyer with coupons.
most of my landscapers use the two color flyers because of the price.
they get 10,000 flyers for the price of 5,000 they reach more homes at a lower price. you get (10,000) 5.5x8.5 two color flyers for $0.019 per flyer thats with design, printing and free shipping.

All the flyers on (www.dclgraphics.com) portfolio are two color, we use a unique duotone printing method Duotones are the result of printing a grayscale image in two different ink colors. Printing photographs by
the duotone method produces a richer, longer tone scale than is possible using only one color.

David,

What advice do you have for new start up businesses? You have been in business now for many years and must have seen a lot. Where do you think that most tend to trip up and how can they avoid those problems?

Most businesses fail because either don't attract a sufficient number of new customers, or they let their existing or current customers slip away. If you really want your business to be successful, you've got to make getting and keeping customers your number one priority.

Let me put it another way. When was the last time you heard of a company going out of business because they had too many happy, satisfied customers buying from them? My guess is, never

On the other hand, you can probably name quite a few businesses that are no longer around because they didn't have enough people buying from them, coming back for more and referring others to them.

And that's where "Marketing" comes in. is the ability to get your message to others about the goods and services you offer, in such a manner that it compels them... nearly forces them to do business with you, is one of the most fundamental, yet misunderstood areas in business today, also most business don't look at marketing as an investment to grow their business and a tax write-off.

Effective marketing is critical to the success of any business. With ineffective marketing, your prospects may never find out about the products or services you offer.

David,

When it comes to keep customers, what have you found that keeps them around? It would be fascinating to hear your insight on this topic because they might be able to be utilized in this industry as well.

Also do you find the marketing message trying to attract new customers is different from trying to keep current customers?

Do you feel over time your ability and skills to create and keep customers has gotten better?

Since many of our readers are newer startups, can you look back when you were a startup and think about the things you did that you wish you would have done more of or less of? Things that would have helped your business grow a lot faster.
