Hourly Labor Rate

Really new to the lawnscape business and was curious as to what the average hourly rate was.

The hourly rate depends on your location and the level of competition. We see it on average anywhere from $40 - $60.

Yes that helps alot. I got lucky and already have a few commercial accounts (i.e. a private school, condo complex and medical building), but those were all because I had contacts. Those 3 proposals I had the old landscape companies contract, but I am doing a proposal right now completely blind and had no idea how to bid the labor on it. I am just south of Atlanta and the competition is pretty steep here so I will go with a lower number just to get my foot in the door. I also have about 15 yards all within about 4 months so I think so far I'm doing ok.

That is fantastic! Do you feel you learned a lot from seeing those contracts? How did you bid compared to them? Did you price your bid the same, a little lower or a little higher?

Keep in mind when bidding that most the time, They will throw out the lowest and highest bid.

For my self one of the worst things I can hear is " You were the lowest bid".... This is not the case most the time but when it is, I shake my head.
