Props to Floridabaoy!

I have a meeting with my daughters school principal to volunteer my services to maintain the grass and landscaping in front of the school offices, and parking areas( high visibility to teachers and parents), going to ask if i may place a company sign in that area. May be a little cheesy to volunteer and advertise at the same time, but business is business.

Lawn care business tips
When I seen this from Floridaboy, I just said WOW!

You guys could do so many things like this.

Model Homes for large communities, offer free service for just the Model Center and they will give you free advertising for the community.

Floridaboy, Please let us know how it works out for you!

Thanks!!

Oh yeah no doubt that was a great idea. I am looking forwards to hearing about it.

Another great idea.

You gotta figure if you spend hours, or even days handing out flyers at times and there are no return calls, you are indeed spending time doing it.

You could potentially spend less time, say maintaining a model home, and get more bang for the buck from it.

You never know until you try.

I like this idea also. You could take it one step further and ask if you can set up a small business display inside the model home, advertising what services you offer. You could also ask the developing company manager if it was okay to place a nice and neat yard sign in the yard for more visibility, if not maybe by the entrance to the model home. Your sign could read "Model Home maintained by Joe Smoe Lawn and Landscape Company". I think just a simple sign with the Company Name and Phone Number will do.

One problem you might run into is that most developments that are starting out or on there way might already have a Landscape Co. that bided on the plants/trees/scrubs/flowers and mulch. They might also be the ones that are maintaining the grounds. You need to ask, you never know. Great idea and maybe free advertising.

John, I have been selling New Homes for a builder for 7 years now, and with all the cut backs, we are always looking for new ways to save money.

The only big issue I see is you can get to big to fast. The builder will want you to do all spec homes and would most likely give you the job over the other Landscapers. You would not do it all for free, but when it is time for the next bid. You would low ball. with a contract allowing you to have yard signs, small displays in the Model Center.

The landscaper that does our models does a crappy job!
I have been complaining allot the last couple of months.
I would love to see a new landscaping company doing our models.

Artie, maybe it is time you get your feet wet in the Lawn Care Business. You could maintain the Model Homes and any foreclosure homes in the development. Charge the developer a fee for the model homes to maintain them and then get more money when you close the deal. Same with the foreclosures, you could be paid at the closing to maintain these homes. You are always looking for more ideas and money, I think its time to join us in the Lawn Care. Become one of us. LOL

Default Bartering

One thing you could do is mow the yard of someone who does SEO/Website services. Mow their yard, which for the lawn crew that does my yard only takes about 15 minutes per week and then receive $300-$500 a month of services from them for free.

They can help you reach a lot more customers who would never open the phone book and "google" it to find local lawn service.

I'm doing it and there are other guys out there that will too. Let me know if you have any questions and I can share with you how to find them.
