John Crudo’s company is facing what he calls a beautiful problem: It has a history of outgrowing its space.
Crudo started his fledgling Green Lights Recycling business with a fax machine out of his small home in New Brighton. In 1995 he rented a 1,000-square-foot warehouse in New Brighton. He had quit a secure job he held in North Dakota as a national sales manager overseeing 250 employees in the lighting industry.
Within two years, his company had outgrown its New Brighton quarters and he moved it to a building with two-and-a-half times the space at 1701 93rd Lane in Blaine .
In 2001, the space squeeze emerged again and Crudo moved the business up the road about two miles where he built his current two-story building at 10040 Davenport St. N.E., in an industrial area.
Five years later, the company is running out of room again. Ideally, Crudo would like to stay where he is and someday acquire nearby land where he can expand, he says.
