GopherHaul Book of the month 8/09 - Call me Ted Call Me Ted by Ted Turner I have read other books on Ted Turner and each one is fantastic. He has such a great story. I wanted to pass on to you a little from the book. We often talk about the importance of being involved with your community and this is something Ted's father taught him to do as well. When Ted was young, his dad owned an outdoor billboard company. Ted's dad taught him it was important to get involved with the local communities to learn about the zoning laws and ordinances involving outdoor billboards. Ted did this and also got involved with the local Rotary. He also joined the Red Cross and the United Way's publicity committee. Every year he would donate signs to promote their local charity events. He said he enjoyed doing all this and it helped smooth the way for his business to grow. And grow it did. The business became the largest outdoor billboard company in the south. So consider these things when you are out there working on growing your business and read this book.
