Default Mower Busted

It rained today, I took a nap until it stopped. Did a weeding job, made some cash.

The weather cleared up, did my first customer & ran over a F'ING BRICK!!!

My mower is now at the dealer 1hr away, it'll be ready by Friday or next Monday... My backup is broken, stupid Lawn Boy piece of crap. So I borrowed a toro from a friend in the business....

I call him an hour later saying he gave me a broken mower, same problem as mine with the self propelled busted.

He picks it up & drops off a pretty good one... I got 1 customer done today...

I'm so so so stressed out. Who the hell leaves a brick lying in the center of their backyard, so random, so stupid.

I can't believe it, I have to spend $400.00 just like that, nothing accomplished.

I wouldn't mind if it was anything BUT Monday...

I wanted to throw the brick into the customers kitchen window, I fricken hate this crap! I'm not a garbage man for f' sake!

I am sorry about that happening! Did the dealership say what mechanically went wrong?

A brick? I think youve been sabotaged by your competition...

Scott,

This comment is meant to make you LYAO and release some stress.

At least you detailed and waxed you mower. You must have had a great shine on it and it blinded you so you couldn't see the brick.

Maybe a reversal of fortune, you should ask the homeowner if they have insurance to cover their stupidity. Make a claim on them instead of the other way around...

LOL

that's what I said when I put it in the truck. "At least it's shiny"

the worst part of it is, it's raining today... 2 days of lawns to do tomorrow. And it's gonna get hot!

Tomorrow I have to use a 10 year old mower, hoping it lasts me.

I think I'm gonna try a new dealer, these guys are slow & always behind.

How long would you say it takes to replace a drive shaft? Some welding work has to be done on the frame also... My brand new April 2009 mower is now ... crap LOL...

I couldnt guess how long it would take them. I was wondering if this were a situation where the shaft key was broken. Which would have been a lot easier to fix.

Scott,

My Dixie Chopper just blew the combustion seal today and it will be in the shop for a week. A total engine breakdown job just to ensure that there is no other issues going on. Thank god for friends who can help out when needed.

Maybe your new business model "Back UP" is really a great concept to start as a side business. Just add it to your advertisements and see what happens. This may be a way in to helping out those who are down for several days and can't get the jobs done due to not have the proper equipment to do the job.

BTW I went to John Deere and purchased and new JD Commercial Walk Behind Mower G-15. It has a 36" deck, 15 HP, 7 mph with a sulky. I can't wait till use it tomorrow. I have wanted to add this piece of equipment to my inventory later, but sooner came.

Andy, I may become a JD fan along with you. They gave me a nice new Green JD hat to wear. I canít wait. LOL

John

I'm nervous, I might go pick up my mower tomorrow.

I'll be sooooo fricken p'd off if it doesn't sound amazing after I spend $400.00+

What would you do if they said it was fixed but still sounded like hell? The entire mower shakes & everything due to the busted drive shaft.

How can I tell if they did the job right & that I'm not getting ripped off?

What should I look for to ensure the job was worth the money?

(I'm surely going to switch dealers, even though they have the best equipment)

I wanna go in there knowing I'm not wasting 3 hours of my time to transport something that's not fixed.

After I sent it in, I drove around other shops & they would have only charged me around $200.00... So I'm looking to make damn sure these guys don't scam me.

Well keep us posted on how this works out. You know the mower well. You know how it sounds and runs. When you get it, anything that is out of the ordinary will stand out to you and you can address it while you are there.
