Default Professional Looking Uniforms

I know that all of you want to look your best when you are out there on the job site and have a professional look for yourself and staff, so I have a suggestion for all. If you don’t have a big budget for purchasing these items for yourself or your staff, here’s an idea. I came across this when our linen company representative came by last week. I ask him if his company had any used outfits for sale that are in good condition. He said that his company has a plethora of them for my choosing. He told me to name a color and style and he was sure that they had it. I said ok, I would like a short shelve shirt with a collar that buttons and shorts that are comfortable. Preferable an off gray or dark green. He said ok I’ll see you next week. He came in with our linen and handed me my new Lawn Care outfits, they looked like they were brand new and weren’t warn at all. I said WOW they look new and how much. He said $10.00 for 2 shirts and 2 shorts. You can’t go to Wally World and get those for that cheap. What a deal. I now have a better professional look and my look was good before.

Most of you can get in contact with your local linen company and see if the have used outfits for you to buy. Maybe if you need to supply your staff you might be able to get a price break due to the amount. Some names of companies that come to mind are, Unifirst, National, Alsco, Angelica and the list can go on. Just look it up in your telephone book and give them a call.

Maybe this can help some of you. It helped me.

John

P.S. Scott (Breeze) this is in no reference to you when you posted the picture of you in your work outfit. You look nice and professional, but I agree, the cig needs to go. LMAO.

Lawn care business tips
Great post! It gets me thinking too. Could you potentially try and sell some online? It be fun to see if they would sell.

Also, do you have any pictures of them?

Everyone keeps telling me I need a uniform. I'm only one guy so anything I wear is "uniform", right?

The other lawn guys in town say I need t-shirts. I don't wear t-shirts. I wear tennis shirts. I got a bunch of crazy colored tennis shirts at the thrift store and that's what I wear to work in. I think I'm going to change to a button up shirt and a bow-tie next year. That'll get the folks talking, huh?

Did you see the post a while back about the lawn care business that painted everything yellow and had a yellow uniform? Even the boots? I think such things gives us a chance to really stand out.

If you look around at the other lawn care businesses in the area, who stands out? Even simply visually? Who? Most of the time no one seems too. At least from what I have seen.

However it then does leave the door open for those who want to attract attention.

What's your take on this?

I must have missed that post. Yellow is the color of my logo. Well, it's yellow and black. I chose those colors because the Dodge Superbee is my favorite car but I then realized that this is Steeler country and I figured black and gold would catch the Steeler fan's eye, too.

I did get one comment so far about my dress code. I wear a big floppy hat when I'm out in the sun. Ball caps leave my ears exposed and they get tore up by season end. I got mentioned as the floppy hat guy. LOL

I'm going to try the shirt and bow tie next!

Default Uniforms

My guys and myself wear yellow t-shirts and the back has my business info printed on it Black. I chose this color because it is a clean and neat combo, plus I want to be seen when someone passes by.

My lawn signs are also yellow and black. The golf tourney is coming Aug 17th to my area and this is where and when I put out the signs. I picked up three new customers last year just by the signs when the tourney came. We will see what happens this year!!!

Have you thought about doing anything else to promote your business during the tournament? Anything mild or zany?

Here are some pics of the uniforms that I received from my linen company. I bought 2 shorts and 2 shirts for $10.00. They have a plethora of used colors, styles and sizes. They look and feel brand new. If you wanted to have a look for yourself or crew maybe this is the way to go. I know that it would be too hot in some areas to wear but the look would be nice and professional. Maybe with a bow tie LOL

John

P.S. I know the 2nd pic is dark but it's from my I-Phone and it doesn't have a flash.

Great pictures! That hat really works well. It totally blocks the sun from your head and face!

I think that is fantastic!

What made you choose those colors?

If you have a contact for that person, maybe others on the forum could contact him/her for uniforms.
