My wife and I are getting ready to start our company. What are the do's and don'ts? Should we buy new or used? What is the best way to bid mowing and plowing jobs? Anything anyone can help us with would be great

Oh those are some big questions that I am sure you might get a lot of different answers on.

If it were me, I would either use what I got at the moment or buy something used to just feel it out and see if I really wanted to do it.

To bid, at a very very basic level, I would say figure $45 to $60 an hour. So if a lawn takes you a half hour or less maybe go with $30? But as you go you will learn a lot more on how to bid.
