Default Hobby On The Side

These are 1:14 scale remote control big rigs and trailers. I enjoy building them more so than running them. They are sold in kits and can be factory stock or sclupted into whatever you like. There are allot of guys that will even scratch build their cabs.

This was the 1st truck of 2 that I have built

A few trailers I've built:

This was one built for fun, proves that the light stays on when the frigerator door is closed:

Here is the 2nd truck, allot of mods done to this one:

Short video, watch it in HD mode:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKeU3_hTzr0

I'm in the process now of building a dump truck with actual working hydralics.

See much more on our forum, ton of talent from around the world

Lawn care business tips
That is so cool! How long does it take you to put those together? How about the trailers? Are they kits too? How long do they take to put together?

The video was awesome! That would be every kids dream to have. It reminds me of how I used to get Hess Trucks around Christmas time with the working lights. They were so much fun but this takes it all to a new level!

What initially got you into this?

If your building a kit out of the box with no mods, you can get one built in a few days. The painting is the part that takes time but most guys paint 1st and while it's curing they will build the kit. There are allot of tiny nuts and bolts that go into these things, you even build a 3 speed transmisson.

The trailers are kits too but after you build one or two of them you're looking to mod them into what you're want.

The difference between these trucks and the Hess is the price. These babies can sell for $1000 or more if they are built and customized with all the upgrades.

I was on YouTube on day and one of these trucks popped up, I did some research and hat's what got me hooked on them.

Are they battery powered. Just wondering cause it sounded like a diesel engine and everything, is it being produced through a speaker?

Yes they are battery powered, there is a light and sound control unit that is an upgrade. And it will shake the cab just like the real trucks but I have it turned off.

Wow that is an awesome hobby. Reminds me of the 18 wheels of steel game for PC.

That would be really cool! Do you have any pics of where you are now in your build with that?

those are awesome!

I used to play with fisher price rigs when I was younger lol! Spider-Man & batman would have races... Batman would always win.... Then they'd team up & fight the playdoh monster!

I had a great imagination! My spider-man toy "died" & he's buried in the dirt, under a new but now old wooden deck... He finally got what he deserved, trying to rule over all my other toys, batman wouldn't have it!

I don't have many pics of the dump truck build just yet but I will share the dump bed. The bed was a solid cat yellow so I stripped it down, polished and painted it a brighter yellow. Now this bed was originally 1:16 which is a bit small than 1:14 so I widened the bed with diamond plate, the length is just fine. As you could probably tell, I like the bling.

That is really cool.

How much does that dump bed weigh about? You must have a nice shop to cut and bend that diamond plate so neatly.

It makes me wonder if there would be a market for r/c miniature landscaping truck and trailer models.
