Alright, so the story goes that my step dad goes to his house in Newfoundland every year. What he does there ranges from golf to fishing with his friends. My mother has gone up there a few times with him, & this year she's not interested. 1. She has nothing to do, the place is seriously boring. 2. My step dad wont even be around, she'll be alone in the house for the entire time. So, she told him this & for about a month they apparently have not spoken to each other. My problem is, & it's really pissing me off. My mother has this mentality where she always assumes the worst & tries to make everyone feel sorry for her. Scott: Hi, what's new? Mom: Well, I'm looking for a place to stay because your step dad is throwing me out! Scott: Oh for f' sakes, enough with that b.s! Mom: He even said it! Scott: No he didn't. Your just blowing smoke. If I called him now & asked, I bet he'd say something else. Mom: He's say, "the sooner the better" ********- So she said she's looking for a place to stay, yet I see her playing games on the computer ever time we talk & she says that. She has always been a pity scavenger, it irritates me! I wish she'd stop, she goes as far as to lie & make things worse for everyone around her. My step father is a simple guy, he doesn't ask for much & doesn't require much. My mom in her little world, likes to pretend he's such a scary man. That if somethings out of place her signature line, "He's going to flip" "the dogs haven't been fed, the dishes aren't done, he's going to flip" "Your stepdad is on his way home, nothings done, he's going to flip" it goes on & on... Every time I see him come home he doesn't give a crap, he's a great guy & I've known him sense I was 5 1/2 years old! My brother & I are sick of her. All she does is whine & play the victim when she has everything. My parents aren't splitting up, but she's only going to make things worse by assuming that it's going to happen. Any suggestions? I spoke with my step dad last night & just chat about everything but the situation, & he seems to be unaware of what my mom is thinking.

That is a good question. What do you think causes that behavior? Is it depression?

Well not sure this will work for you but this is what I did and do. I got the heck away from them... 4,000 miles away Now I call them 1 or 2 times a month and when they start in with the self pity and bringing up the past I say "well gotta go" and hang up. I am 28, been married twice, have a 10 year old son that I haven't seen in over a year and a half, with a crazy ex wife...so I got my own problems to deal with. I sure as heck don't need to hear all there issues too.

I have no idea.

She doesn't do anything with her life, basically sits on facebook & plays whatever applications she can find. All day she can do this, every day.

I guess my mom is really bored, with no interest in changing her life.

It ticks me off because if one were to say hi to her, it's always as if she responds with anger or frustration. Like she's too busy to have a conversation, that the world will end. Yet she has nothing to look forward to so I really don't understand.

She's a person who will lie to cover up the most forgivable & common mistake. It's like she has fun with her lies. She'll also walk away when someone comes to close when they prove she's wrong or lying.

She's someone I could see living in a cave, yet she's living with my stepfather$$$$$ and that's apparently so difficult...

I've personally assumed that she's only with him for his money, & that's why she fears being kicked out if things aren't well kept. Yet she takes it too far. If she believes he's happy with her, she'll act like the queen of England with a nasty attitude! But if they have a small argument, she acts like she had a huge loss & she's going to die.. she says things like that, "I'm going to die soon, wont be much longer" I just wanna splash water in her face or something... I hate people like this.

She needs to know she has it good, her life is set & she has to not give up on finding out what to do at THIS point in her life. She can't take care of her 4 dogs & 1 cat every day and play computer games, I'd be messed up in the head too!

In time I could see things getting better. My stepfather actually does seem to have a very snappy & aggressive attitude lately. It's to the point where if someone says something he must come up with a rude remark, & it doesn't even have to make sense! It's not just bad, he's consistent with putting people down & feeling as if the world owes him everything now, he doesn't stop!

Oh well, I bought 2 boxes of pizza, a couple of movies & some candy... I'm as happy as could be!

The weather has been on my bad side lately, it was supposed to rain the past 2 days, & I lost time to finish another garden & hedge trimming job... Now I have to do it Monday-Wednesday. I hate when it looks like it's going to rain bad, but it holds up... lol...

I feel for you. My parents are habitual complainers and gossipers. I cant make one visit or one call with out a day of complaining and talking about the audacity of the neighbors. I feel like just screaming "SHUT UP" for god sake there are people loosing there homes and family's and people dieing out there so just deal with it. I however love them so I keep my mouth shut and just make an excuse to hang up or go home when it starts to get the best of me.
