Hummer sold?

How did such a rough and tough military grade truck brand fall apart and have to be sold to a Chinese company?

"GM has already announced a preliminary agreement to sell the Hummer division, reportedly to a Chinese company."

Now you may never need to climb a vertical wall with your truck, but it's always nice when you can. Even if simply for bragging rights.

Now I realize the H1 was a gas guzzler and not 'environmentally friendly.' But there is one thing for sure. This truck kicked butt.

The H2 was lame and the H3 was worse. So was there a consumer market for a military grade truck? Probably, however small. But it seems to me, the brand was killed when it started to be diluted with cheaper smaller trucks.

Lawn care business tips

Haven driven one twice, I personally would never own one even if it were given to me, I think it was an H2.

OMG the fuel this thing went through, to me they are, if purchased by a consumer, just for show.

With fuel prices being what they are, I notice dealerships lots are full of trucks and vans, I seem to see more small vehicles on the road and less big trucks.

As for GM selling, that is a cash thing.

When I did a thesis back in 1984 it was on marketing and the auto industry, my argument was if the North American auto industry doesn't get their head out of the sand and build a vehicle that can last like the imports and match the fuel economy, within 20 years they could be out of business.

For trucks I buy Ford only because I like the sales guy and the service dept if top notch, for cars I drive a diesel Passat, son has a diesel Jetta and the daughter a diesel golf. I have been running VW cars for 20+ years, I don't believe there is a North American car that can hold a candle to them from fuel economy to long term maintenance cost and their ability to hold value.
