Default Got my biggest job yet

Bis and got my giggest job yet yesterday. New lawn for a 23,800 sq ft job and season contract for the job.

I will be applying RoundUp to kill off whats there (mostly weeds), then rototill the entire lot, level, and reseed. Treating soil with Nature's Magic (liquid soil enhancer), lime (pH of soil 5.5), 4 applications of bio-enhanced liquid fertilizer, 800 sq ft of flowergardens to mulch and tend, weekly lawn mowing, 2 weed control applications, edge 2,460 sq ft of concrete driveway, 112 feet of sidewalk, 80' of Burning Bush hedge.

Renting commercial tractor with blade and 48" tiller.

Replacing lawn - $2,300.00, customer renting tractor ($400.00 per day)

Mowing Mowing - $550.00 per month

Fertilizing lawn - $140.00 per month

Fertilizing flowerbeds - $20.00 per month

All natural insect control application - $340.00

Wants me to see his parents home!

It was 89 degrees here at noon with 73% humidity and no breese. Mowed 4 lawns and sweated of 10 pounds. AAll in all, a great day.

I recommend the Nature's Magic Line. Easy to sell. Easy to apply, and no spraying regulations (all ingredients are classified as food products).

Lawn care business tips
That is awsome Steve, way to go buddy, I see a pull sprayer in your near future Man you are on a roll!!!

Just curious, how will you roto till the soil? Rent a walk behind?

Keep up whatever it is you are doing as it seems to be working very well from where I sit.

Hi Andy,

Ace Hardware here is also the local rental company. I will be getting a medium sized tractor from them with a tow behinf blade and a tow behind 60" roto tiller (both attatchments). Rental for one day woud be 7:00 am to 7:00 am. Seeing how they are closed on Sundays, the one day rental charge would be deliver 7:00 am Saturday morning - pick-up 7:00 am Monday morning. Rntal is $400.00 per day with a $50.00 deliver and return charge but the customer is covering that.

At 60, I would not even try to do a job this large with a walk behind. I'll use my head, not my back! My next door neighbor has a small Toro walk behind I can use for the tight areas.

Incidentally, I was the 4th he called for an estimate. One said the job was too big for him, one didn't even show up, and the other 2 didn't have insurance. The man wanted to meet me after 6:00 pm on Saturday. I got to the job at about 5:00 and had all my measurements before he got home.

His email stated in detail what he wanted done so I was ready for the quote.

Sounds great bud, that seems desperate high for a one day rental, but then again I have never rented one, too bad you didn't live close by I have an excellent tractor not doing much tomorrow (I have a migraine and will be down at least a day, visiting a client that must bath in the friggin stuff today).

The tractor units work super slick, we have our first job on Wednesday, it's a big garden, I did have a client that wanted his lawn done but it was too small, way too much slope for the tractors so I passed, also in an out of the way location.

Anyhow, take pics!

My wife is a critical care pediatric nurse who suffers from Migraines. Her "cure" is regular Gator Aid. The electrolites in the soda seem to stop or at least diminish them. Maybe this will help you.

There are certain things I can't eat, Chocolate, Carrots are right up there, stay clear of wine but it's rare I have a drink anyhow, it's been four maybe five months since the last one, perfume will set them off like a rocket, shortly after I left the clients every time I blinked I saw stars, it got so bad I had to pull over and wait a bit. I have meds in my truck however my son had it on a job site and I was driving or Jetta.

Anyhow for me a shot of demerol and sleep is the only thing that will cure it so I stopped off at the medical clinic which is close to the house for a shot then slept for a few hours.

Steve that is great news! What will you do to fertilize the lawn each month? Is it advisable to add fertilizer each month to a lawn?

How often is this done?

I'd love to see an overhead image of the property!

I am not adding fertilizer every month. I will fertilize every 5-6 weeks. I spread out the payment over the season so payments are consistant. The customer requested it be billed this way.

Ahh ok. I am with you on that. Very neat! I don't often see that but it seems like a good idea.

How often do you have to add the natural insect control application?

This is my first year using it, but the literature says once a year is enough.
