Last night, because of great public outcry, the SC City Fathers here repealed their February noise ordinance law. As it stood, noise polluting machinary such as lawn mowers could not be used until afer 11:00 AM - M-S and after 1:30 Sunday. Now, we have to start working on their stupid Blue Laws! Example: Food only can be sold before 1:30 PM on Sunday. Steve

lawn mowers could not be used until afer 11:00 AM WOW! I never heard of it being so late! I have heard of 8:00am. Did you go to the town council meeting or how did you get it repealed?

I went to 4 of the meetings but it wasn't my efforts that changed it. It was the senior citizens who got it repealed. They said it was too hot to mow after 11 during the summer. One man even threatened them with a 'reckless endangerment" charge stating that it was a health risk to older people. I don't think it would have worked, but the positive reaction from the crowd sure did!

How did you like the process of going to the meetings and being involved the way you were?

It seems like not too many people get involved with their town like that.
