Property Clean up. Construction site cleanup, & apartment cleanup & make ready, painting, sheetrock, etc. After I do a walk around on the property I am constantly fiquring man hours and keeping up with them on the notebook I carry. 10 acres clean up = 3-12 man hours per acre depending on the number of obstacles, say $22 per hour for 6 man hours required per acre x 10 acres= $1320 plus EXTRAS. If we have a ton of clean up & debris, dump trucks are cheaper when you use an excavator on bigger jobs with lots of debdris, you must also fiqure how many 40 yard dumpster loads must be hauled to BFI, price per dumpster hauled, dump fees, is mowing required (which is quite often),fiqure the mowing EXTRA, I charge equipment fees if I must rent special equipment as a excavator or front end loader. There are more physical labor type projects than mowing, yet mowing & yards care remains a large part of my services as I add services I can provide and do a good job. Monday I bid another Walmart Property 18 acres, praise the Lord!

That is really fascinating! It looks like a bomb went off in that photo! WOW what a clean up that was! How do you even begin to market for such services as cleanups after house fires? And who would you market that service too? Insurance companies? The town? Homeowners?
How does this kind of debris cleanup compare with keeping parking lots clean of garbage that gets tossed out of cars during the day?
I would think parking lots would take a lot less time.

Parking lots!
Steve,
Well there are several companies around here that offer that service BUT they are just about limited to that service as they use street sweeping trucks & I've never really watched them but they would be out every night late as I used to see them when on ambulance calls. But I have never cleaned a parking lot. I have cleaned up piles of junk, debris, cleaned out garages, apartments where folks just up & left piles of crap, buildings where tennants moved out & left machines, trash, furniture, & loads of paperwork, etc. clients run from local property owners to Federal, state, & city agencies. I bid on the projects. Man one would never believe how many people will pay to have crap hauled off. I will pickup & deliver new applicance from any retailer, haul them to the home, unload & install them properly, then haul the off the old appliance for which I charge almost $100. I haul the old one to a guy that pays me $10 for any washer, dryer, stove, etc. I do charge a dump fee on all pickups. BFI charges me $11 for each appliance I haul there. A large load may cost up to $65 (pickup & trailer load). All this adds up. I use the Internet to market these services. DAD does what he calls INTERNET BLASTING where he puts up multiple sites for me. He is an Internet wizard and had marketed some very large clients. He charges me now $150 a month but that is much cheaper than YellowPages yet I pay them just over a $100 a month for listings only in 6 catagories of the phone book. Yellow PAges brought out this ad that they wanted me to pay $816 a month. I told that guy he was nuts. A listing is simply your name & phone. One must advertise to grow a business. Just look up Trey Bernhardt * San Antonio, Texas at GOOGLE, YAHOO, MSN search engines. You will see what I mean. I would rather we working doing something than not making money. I have good help, good leadmen, a great carpenter cabinet maker, a journey painter, a licensed electrician, that I can count on for different types of jobs. Yesterday I did 7 lawns myself, one is a new account, a TV Station that sits on 7 acres and is a 4 hour job with 3 workers x 3 times a month. But praise God, he gives me work & I go do it.
Trey
How do I get to the page where the certificate from the lawn care school is located. I know I have seen it but can't find it again.

PHP Code:
<a href="http://www.gopherforum.com/index.php?pageid=GopherHaul-Lawn-Care-Business-School&graduate=f80c02211c6dc4baf3d42815f840ecb8"><img src="http://www.gopherforum.com/uploaded-files/images/school-logo-banner.gif"></a>
You would change the graduate code to your code. This is an example Steve uses on the forum.
It looks like this.

Wow!
Just contracted for two additional Walmart properties. Mowing & property cleanup & haul off. One property is 8 acres & the other is 11 acres. I contracted a guy with a bush hog to mow both lots but I personally do the property around the stores. One property has a back street & folks use their backside as a dump site & according to the store manager this has gone on for several years. I pick up at least one load of crap there each weeks that folks have dumped! KEEP IT UP FOLKS.........I get paid by the load! Trey

That is great news! How did you line up these additional Wal-Mart stores? Did they hear of you from other managers or did you approach them?

I been doing that other store for over 6 months & they called me to go submit a bid. Which I did. In one instance the city was fining them daily for not keeping their property mowed, etc. Referrals from one store to the other!
when I get about 25 or 30 stores I will be a rocking! Trey.
