I was watching some interstate right-of-way workers today. They were pruning trees.

It looked like they had a saw or pruners on about a 20' to 30' extension pole. They were taking off ~4" limbs in under a second.

Can you give me the lowdown on their rig? I imagine it was some sort of pneumatic clipping device. Interested in learning more.

You are right. It is a pneumatic device. There are some that have big clippers on the end, and some have a saw on the end just like a gas powered saw. But I have never used one before, so I dont know much about them, except that they are very expensive.
