Hey Steve i am still detailing i enjoy detailing but it is to much weather and when the customer wants to basis.When i detail a boat or auto and you call them back in 3 months to schedule their wash and wax it all depends on the weather or if they have time.When i seriously looked around at the top detailers in the industry alot of them are pushing wax at 50 and 60,I dont want to do that it is hard to find someone to put on a $80,000 mercedes and get a swirl free job.I just want to sell it once and service it over and over.To me i enjoy the game of marketing and crazy customer service and sales.

I am going to offer new customers if they switch or start with our company a free wash and wax after first 4 cuts then after six months a free detail.This only for our first 40 QUALITY clients and that is it. What you think?

How long would it take you to perform each of those freebie services?

How much would you normally charge for them?

I would normally charge $65.00 wash and wax,$140.00 for full detail.

Time wise takes me and my brother who has agreed to help me get started and do the details for free(He is my younger bro. and a great bro.)about 1 hour on the wash and wax,2 hours on the full detail.These will be done in the evening.These will all be one time incentives.

I like all this. Ultimately it's something thats got to be played around with.

Should you ask the customer to sign a maintenance agreement for the rest of the year to get the offer? Or no?

I don't know which would yield the best results.

Are you going to put together a flyer to promote this? Or how are you going to get the word out? Maybe craigslist?

Yes i have decided to have a contract for 12 months work.And i am only doing full service no peice meal stuff. $200/month ,mow,fert. and weed control.I just want to do it right the first time.

We are getting 2500 full color postcards printed to begin to distribute and mail.

Are you going to be handing them out in the area or mailing them. If you are mailing them, how will you pick out who to send the postcards too and then will you send them multiple times to the same person?

I use a company that can narrow my search to certain criteria to get leads for my ideal customer 1.$60000 income and up 2.1-no kids 3.credit rating of 670 or better. 4.House value of $150000-$600000 5.lived in their house for more than 5 yrs. 6.age between 32 and up

1.They have extra income

2.The kids isnt going to be cutting the lawn

3.They pay their bills

4.Decent size lawn in nice neighborhood other good customers

5.stability


These are only guidelines remember LIFE IS ABOUT PERCENTAGES IT IS ALL ABOUT THAT 1% better today than we were a week ago.

I love your ideas so far. I'd really like you to read this post http://gopherforum.com/showthread.php?t=3682

and give it some thought. I think it will help you in your marketing battle plan.

Let me know after you read it, if it effects your direct mail marketing plan.



What else are you going to be doing to leverage your time or money to get the word out more about your business?

I was thinking what if, one weekend you offered a free wash in your neighborhood or at a busy intersection? Then you could get a chance to meet people in your area and hand out your marketing literature about your lawn care business?

You could do this for your immediate area and hand out flyers for lawn care and the free car wash. Maybe something like, 'drive by my house on saturday July the **th for a free car wash.'

It would be a great way to meet new customers.

What do you think of all that.
