From our experience, you make the most money targeting the most expensive well maintained lawns in your area.
Don't target homes that look like they haven't been cut in a while. It's a sign they don't care about their lawn or they don't have any money. Same with never been trimmed before lawns.

If you want to experiment, test your marketing between a richer area and then an area where the yards aren't well maintained and see what happens.

Keep us posted on what you find.

Congrats on the first call. One thing that has helped my business tremendously was getting in good with the local nursery. There is a nursery on the West side of our town (doctors, lawyers, etc.) and they refer people to me constantly. At least 2 calls per week. Some of them are my biggest paying accounts. I have noticed that they dont mind paying more for your services if you assure them you will do a good job, then follow through of course. Good Luck!

Do you pay them anything for referrals? A while back another business owner was telling me how he went into the store every week to pay the counter staff 10% cash for any referrals he got from them and that really helped him grow.
