hey guys, i just wanted to update my progress

i bought a 48" exmark metro walk behind with grass catcher

i borrowed a small back pack blower and trimmer from my dad.

then i got my name and logo finalized

Got Grass?
Landscaping

has been born

i ordered 1000 flyers 4 colors and gloss for $209
those will be here saturday.

also today i got my son and daughter and there 2 friends to put up 350 black and white versions of my flyer.

we did 2 local super stop and shops and about 150 houses in my area.

we did that in about 2 hrs.

i notice that know one says anything to little 8 yr old kids.....
heck they even ask and wait for for the flyer...

its was hot and fun!!!!!!

i also ordered my magnetic signs and should have them any day now!

heres my final flyer.....

i am also going to work on my myspace page today and start friend requesting to get my name out there.

I made an image file so others can see it quickly. I like the flyer a lot!

As you were out handing out flyers, were you able to talk to people? Were you able to offer any price quotes on the spot?

Can you take some pictures of your setup now to share with us?

Also send me a friend request when you get your myspace site up.

Keep me posted on how the calls go. Quite often when we talk about flyer distribution on the forum, some lawn care operators have found it a better response when they go out in the evening or the weekends when they can talk with home owners and give quotes on the spot.

The more people you talk with the better your chances are of making a sale.

What would be interested would be to keep track of how many flyers you handed out now and how many people you talked with and how many jobs you got from them.

And then compare it to when you hand out another round of flyers when more homeowners are home.

Then we all could see which way lands you more jobs.

Well it is something that is done but from what we have seen the best way is to give the quote in person because then you can sell the price. If you are not there in person, the home owner will compare the price to other lcos without having the added value of knowing you.

When they know you, when they are talking with you, they become more comfortable with you and may ultimately even pay more to have a service provided by someone they are comfortable with.

What's your view?

i would do alot better if i was in front of people.

what type of houses to you guys usually target.

small medium large commercial?

i targeted alot of small yards today.

most look like they havent been cut in like 2 weeks atleast!

and i also looked for people that there yard has never been trimmed before??
