Default Licensing in Texas

I'd like to eventually (soon as possible actually) get licensed to apply herbicides and pest control solutions. Now I've been told by the state that three study guides are required then testing then licensing. The study guides alone are $80. Not to mention what the testing and actual license fees are.

Now I realize that's not a lot of money in the scheme of things when we look at the possible profits that can be made in the future. But when you're starting out and on a limited income to begin with, it kinda is. Does anyone here from Texas has any experience with this and what, if any, are your suggestions? Do feel free to suggest other licensing that could be of benefit. I appreciate it.

Are there other services you might consider offering that you dont need a license to do? Possibly landscape services? With other services you could fill up your schedule and make some money, then start putting out feelers if your customers want fertilization/weed control applied to their lawns. Asking them a few questions about it could tell you if it would be worth while pursuing.

Here is a link to the Texas state site for chemical applicators.

Thanks Steve. I do plan to offer pressure washing eventually and this was something I wanted to do eventually, not just yet. I just wanted to cover my bases.

You never know, there could be a big demand for that service in your area but there are a lot of services that are easier to get into that can make you money today and don't require extra insurance and licenses.

Do you have a pressure washer now or is that a piece of equipment you are going to be saving up for?
