I was looking around youtube and I found this Scag video from Germany. *It seems like on some of the mowers in the video they have different decks on them. *Like some sort of brush hog. *Does anyone know anything about this?

I'm especially interested in the deck for the Turf Tiger.

Check out the dual wheel walk behind. *Weird, right?

I also went to http://www.scag.de and it seems like they have totally different equipment lines. *What do you folks think?

Jared

Is it possible they just cut off the front of the mowing deck?

This might help. I use Firefox browser. They have a quick little add-on that will translate any language text to English. You may want to try it. I use it all the time.

Brandon, thanks for the translator advice. It made it easier to decipher.

Steve, I did a little research and it seems they sell what they call Humus decks or ESM decks to fit the scag mowers. Check out this website http://www.st-mach.com/ESM.htm. I don't think they have regular blades on them. It seems they are rotary style blades like this.

This must void a scag warranty right?

Has any one tried a mod on their machine like this?

Is it possible to cut the front of a deck off like steve said to push less material over? (that doesn't sound safe at all)

No it doesn't sound safe at all.

I was looking at the image from the link

and I just can't imagine anything else but a regular mower blade underneath that deck. If it were rotary wouldn't it have to be powered from the side? Would that be possible under such a small deck?

Neither the left nor the right side seem to have the hardware I would think would be required to power a horizontal cutting blade.

So it seems that the red mower deck has a normal blade set up and it also has a front on it that moves to allow larger weeds to pass through. (metal plates)

I found some pictures of mowers that appear to have side powered cutters. *See the pictures below.

Ah yes! That would make sense! Do you think such a mower would help you and your business? Have you ever seen them being offered before in the U.S.?

I don't have enough of a need to have a full time brush hog mower. I do have a few clients that have some brush hog needs. It would be nice to have the deck and be able to swap them.

I would be worried though about running my one and only full time zero turn through thick brush. I would hate to break something on it for a small brush hog job. It's much easier to borrow a Kubota for the day.

Would you be able to drive a rotary cutter in reverse? Doesn't that loose a lot of the effectiveness of a zero turn?
