I am wanting to get my name licensed with the state that I live in. Where do I start? How much can I expect to spend? Thanks

Well for the time being it will be me only. I would imagine that is a sole proprietor business.
I am trying to register my business. For many reasons, the main one being able to open up a small business checking account.

I understand better now.

To do this, you need to register a d.b.a. (doing business as) which is a sole proprietor. To do that, go to your local county court house and ask for the department that handles registering of new businesses. It should cost $25 to $50? It's a few forms and you are ready to go.
