Hello all,

I am not new to the business or the forums...but I have been MIA for almost a year. I just wanted to say hello to all of the new members and introduce myself.

My name is Richard Murphy and I am back again. I have about 7-8 years in the green industry. So some of what I say can be useful .

Well I left the green industry and went back to my retail roots (Canadian Tire, Store Manager)...but I miss the outdoors and the hustle and bustle of lawn maintenance and landscaping.

Nothing special has happened over the past year...besides giving my time away at a J-O-B.

Any thoughts on why you left the green industry?

Do you have any future entrepreneurial plans or projects?

Well as you may know, I didn't own the company I was working for at the time...I just ran it. I got tired of my efforts not directly affecting my life and bank account. So when I was ready for change this job position was available.

Lets say that the light at the end of the tunnel is...green!

How come you didn't decide to just create your own lawn care operation. With all of your talents and abilities you really could do something amazing !

What words of advise do you have for others who find themselves in a similar situation where they not being appreciated enough in their job? Either financially or psychologically (with thank you's and such).

Believe me I tried to break free and go out on my own...I found that the timing was not right nor the finances. It was already February and that left little time to secure contracts.

I am with you on that. How often is success tied in with timing. I think quite often.

Are you still doing graphic design? There is a ton of graphic design requests here still.

If you do not feel appreciated in your current employ, I would suggest letting people know how you feel before making any decisions. Sometimes it can help, but sometimes it can be a dead end.
