Here in KY french daian are no less than 6" square. and at least 24" min deep to the top of the drain.

Before you can do anything you gotta get that water out of there, get a pump and pump it out all out it to the best you can. Let it stand a day or two and check and see if more water has reapeard, if there has and there has not been any rain then you have even bigger problem. But the key is to get all or as much water pumped away from your work area in the pictures i can see your drain ditch is working, si your on the right track.

Good Luck Bro.
Tim
I'm not putting peagravel in the drain. I wanted to put 7/8 in but they didn't have any clean so I went with 1" drain rock. The pea gravel is going to cover the whole area for his dogs.

I only dug it down 15" along the trench part and the drain area is about 2ft deep. Is it still going to work? It was hard to git that dug out and took more than 8 hours. When I was done I realized I could have got a jackhammer with a clay spade and sped things up. This is my first one and I told him that and made it clear before I started.

There is perforated pipe in there now to. When I went back to finish the next day it was pretty full so I went and rented a 3/4" pump to empty it. Its been raining here alot every day. I dug it out in the rain. What a pain. I had to keep digging down and transferring the water from section to section before I had the pump.

I'm not sure if a drain all the way around will fix the problem because the water is standing all over the lawn.

I am learning alot on this job.

Lawn care business tips
I think your doing fine with all your having to deal with I guess the depth is fine Im no geo engineer so I can't say. only what we have done here in KY on the farm. Sorry I misunderstood about the peas..LOL. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. I wouldn't do to much while it was continuing to rain because you'll be fighting a lossing battle. All you can do is detour the water for now.

Good Luck
Tim

I'm almost done with the one side. I think i'm going to check on it today. It took me alot longer than I expected and I had to go do some lawns on Friday. So I'll finish it after Christmas.

I was thinking he might need to have someone else come out and give an opinion. I'm not an expert on drainage systems. He's got standing water all over the lawn not just in one spot on the new sod. And the whole front is on a slope but its still spongy.

Merry Christmas Rob & Family

Sometimes the best thing and advise is to refer someone else to the job. You will get more respect out of a customer for this and they will remember it also in a positive way. Just becareful who you refer if you drop a name, make sure this person can do it and do it right.

Did this ever happen before the custmer had the new sod laid?

Was the new sod suppose to fix this problem?

There are other options but you would have to call me to go over these, it is very lengthly.

Have a great Christmas and Stay Safe
Tim
