What's your view, is this like the worst lawn nightmare or what? Bad batch of fertilizer kills lawns - Anyone who ventures down Belfry Drive in Waukee this week can easily see the odd patchwork of yards: green, brown, green and more brown. The green lawns shimmer in the afternoon heat, some showered by a sprinkler. The brown lawns are bald - scraped of all grass, following one lawn care company's embarrassing mishap. Apparently, no one at Total Quality Inc. realized that their lawn fertilizer - or what they thought was lawn fertilizer - contained a chemical that kills grass. The mix-up, caused allegedly by the Polk City company's chemical supplier, ruined the lawns of homes treated between June 11 and 15. Lush yards faded to a prickly, strawlike brown and died.

If you read the whole article he not only refunds the peoples money, resods their lawn, pays for their water bill, and offers free service next year, tells me that he is going to win a very favorable lawsuit against the chemical supplier. The chemical supplier is going to pay up big time probably, that is why he doesn't reveal the chemical used and the number of customers.

Lets see what the approximate costs could be based on 100 customers, each of them with an 8,000 sq ft lawn.

Refund money for this year: $20,000
resod everyones lawn: $400,000
refund money for 2008: $20,000
refund water bill: $30,000

Total $470,000

Is it at all possible he sprayed round-up or something like that?

I personally think that he sprayed some type of total vegatation killer. I would like to follow this story in court though. Because I wonder whether the products were mis-labled, or not labeled at all. In my opinion, if the supplier gave the company a product that is not labeled, not only is it the suppliers fault, but the applicator as well.
