Are we going to see more lawn care companys like Mark's? Where they promote the zero-emissions angle? Do you think this is going to be part of a bigger trend?

Clean, green mowing machine - To hear Marc Leach describe it, he's got the perfect business, combining his desire to be his own boss with a passion to promote environmentally friendly services.

Mr. Leach is owner-operator of Clean Air Lawn & Garden Services, which promises emission-free care. "Mowing grass without the gas" is how the company's motto puts it.

I think on the west coast we will see that more and more. I think that propane and electric will come first before that though.

I would like to switch over all of my 2-cycle equipment to electric by 2010.

Could you start your own business without buying into their franchise? Would that help lower the startup costs?

I am very convinced propane is going to take the industry by storm.

As new 2011 and 2012 EPA regulations affect the industry, pollutants need to be further reduced. Propane is very clean burning compared to 2-cycle gas-oil mixtures.

I have used my propane line trimmer since early March. See my review of it here:

Let me know if you have questions.

Did you price at all the cost of use of the propane? How much are the little bottles? Can you refill them and where at?

You can refill them for your own use but can not transport across state line. There is an adapter so you can refill them right from a regular propane cylinder. I am very interested in this propane run law business. Dixie chopper has a ZT that runs propane. I would like to see a WB that runs it as well.

Default Emissions free is a scam

First off, let me tell you, all of the emissions put out by all the engines in the world affect the ozone less than you think. If I recall correctly, emissions and all the "hazards" of emissions account for less than 1% (I think) of the lost/destroyed ozone. The only reason I like better fuel economy is because it is cheaper in my pocket. Period.

Besides, no one, yes I said no one, is emissions free. I will stand by that statement. "Emissions free" is a scam. And I will stand by that statement as well. Global warming is a scam. There are several hundred of the top scientists in the world that will agree with me on that.

Back to emissions free, let me just ask several questions to clarify my position.

How do they transport their equipment? Truck? Bicycle and trailer? If by bicycle and trailer, where were the bicycle and trailer made? Emissions free China????? Give me a break. China emits far more emissions than the USA does. In fact, the USA emits only a fraction of the emissions per capita of powered equipment/machinery/vehicles, etc. users in the world. Possibly, even probably, less as a whole than any other "civilized" nation in the world. But back to the emissions questions at hand....

How was the bicycle made? Using emissions free machines? Not hardly.

How were the tires made? Emissions free in South America or Mexico? I doubt it. They don't care about emissions. Slave/child labor sounds good to me.... But that is another issue for another day and another thread.

How was the iron mined that was used for the steel in the bicycle? By hand, using "emissions free" hand shovels? Ahhhhhh. Hmmmm, so where did the shovel come from? And the steel for the shovel?

How was the wood for the shovel handle made? Oh, that's right, by a tree cut down by hand using an ax....

Oh, where did the ax come from? And the ax handle? Oh, that's right, the ax and shovel both had a fiberglass handle. I am sure that was emissions free too.....

How do they commute when they are not riding their bicycles for mowing lawns? Where/how were their clothes made? All emissions free, huh? Not likely....

What about the house they live in? Who built it? Did they drive trucks? What about the people who cut the trees down for the lumber? That's right. Gotta love those emissions free electric "logging" chain saws... What? You mean electric "logging" chain saws don't even exist?!?! We know that electricity is emissions free so they need to invent some electric "logging" chain saws!! I mean with those wind turbines and everything. Heck those strong turbines are made out of steel and aluminum and the ore is mined using.... Ahhhh, what did you say is used to mine the ore?

How did the builders nail the lumber together for the house? Nails? Where did the nails come from? Oh, here we go with the steel issue again.... Emissions. I am choking on emissions.....

What about the tools to cut the boards? Hand saws. Right. And where did the steel for the hand saw blade come from? And how was the wood for the handle formed?

And we have not even addressed how the bicycle was brought here from China. And the reel push mower, which was likely made in China (was well). Oh, what am I thinking? A sail boat. No dirty engines to pollute the air.... After all, the shippers are the most emissions minded people in the world......

Anyway, I digress. But I still say, no one is emissions free. Unless you live in Africa or somewhere where there are no machines to make emissions. But where did their clothes come from? Are they emissions free? AHHHHH. Here we go again! No one is emissions free. PERIOD!!!!

Consicer this:
  • Al Gore has 5,000 "scientists" that say Global Warming is a real threat. Most are political scientists.
  • A consortium of 40,000 pHd's say it's a fraud. Real scientists - mathamaticians, climatoligists, chemists, biologists, etc.
  • As far a propane use goes - we import 40% of the propane we use even though the resources are here to produce it.
  • The earth has actually cooled every year since 1998. Many scientists say we are heading toward global cooling (another mni Ice Age)! How should we combat this? Increase greenhouse gas emissions? That's the logical solution!
  • Global warming proponents said that the 1990's were the warmest period in history. Actually 1928 to 1938 was the hottest decade recorded. A time when everyone drove 2 SUV's? Everyone worked at air polluting factorys? Used only unleaded gas? No,it was a time that 90% of industry was agriculture.
  • Since Al Gore "reveiled" global warming he has not once debated his stance!
  • Because thinking people have started debunking global warming, they have changed global warming to "climate change".
Global warming hysteria has cost thousands and completely ended many industries. It has caused a great shift in this country from well paying manufacturing industrys to poorly paying part-time service sector jobs. Burger King has work for you - 30 hours a week with no benefits!

Thanks Steve and correct you are. Al gore uses more healing gas to heat his house in one month than the average home uses in an entire year....... Hypocritical? I think!!

The earth has always been in a heating/cooling "cycle" where it warms up a little more every year for so long then cools off so much each year. I believe this helps keep the eco system in check. When mans tries to control it with their manmade philosophies they interrupt and mess up the eco system, causing problems.

One example is "sulfur free" fuel. Farmers around here are talking about how they have to now add fuel since the government has regulated sulfur from fuel. When sulfur is burned, it goes into the air, stays in the atmosphere until it rains and the rain carries it down to the earth again (to put it simply according to my meager understanding). Either way, leave the eco system alone Al Gore, and nature will take care of itself.
