I saw in another post Ned discussing how he was a motorcycle instructor. What kind of bikes do you ride? What is your dream bike? Where have you ridden too?

Boy, that looks rude. It looks like if you had an accident you'd fall into somebody's big butt crack. They could've at least changed the color into something a little less suggestive...

As for me, I ride touring bikes like the one pictured... I had a Goldwing last, but not one that new. I've sold my bike now, and am in the market for a new one. Preferrably a BMW or Moto Guzzi.

HAHAHA you know, I looked at the picture fast and now I see the same thing you do. It almost looks lke a joke now.

What do you like more about the BMW and Moto Guzzis over the Goldwings?

This is more for the BMWs than the Guzzi's, but when you are travelling long distances on a motorcycle, you want to make the most of those twisty, dicey roads! They are a great percentage of the fun had on a motorcycle trip. Not that Goldwings aren't fun, but BMWs are funner. I like a motorcycle which is geared for performance and practicality, not just a luggage mule. Goldwings have made a lot of advances towards that goal, after straying away from it for a while. Particularily when they introduced the 1800 after the 1600. They shortened the wheelbase, brought the riding position forward, and made other long overdue advances to better handling.

Hi Ned,

What are some of the longer trips you went on with your bike? Where did you visit?

Gopher,

I have concentrated my riding around North America. I have been through every U.S. State, and all around Canada and Mexico. I took a 5 year tour around the continent before I eventually settled down in Key West, Florida for a few years. Those were in my younger days. I'm now back north in Canada.

It's tough to pinpoint the length of any trip, as I hardly ever stayed in one spot long enough to break it up.

I spent a long time in Arizona, Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Chicago. I used to travel between Key West, Florida and Alberta, Canada every year, teaching motorcycle safety in Canada during the summer, and doing the radio thing over the winter in Key West.

How important is it in the next bike you purchase to have an airbag?

Not at all important. Never had one before, never seen one, can't see a use for it.

I would like to see a video or something of one in use, as I find it very difficult to imagine it being deployed very effectively.
