Have you ever stopped to think how much marketing is presented to us everyday. The only time some one is not trying to take our money is when we are sleeping. Even then some is trying to in a different way.

In the morning we leave in our trucks and turn on the radio and listen to a talk show - Commercials
Then later all day the radio - Commercials
Then we get home and get the mail - junk mail marketing
Then the news or tv show - more commercials
Some one Knocks on the door - door to door salesman
Then we log onto the internet - ads everywhere and popups constantly blocked
Then we go on the Gopher site - ads everywhere for everything related to our business
Then the phone rings - telemarketers
Maybe Read a magazine - ads all thru it
Then back to tv maybe for a little bit - more commercials
We go to sleep - lock your stuff up or someones going to take it, your money essentially

Maybe every day is not exactly like this. Probably similar for alot of people though.

Oh yea!

I think about Nascar as an amazing marketing machine too! Who would have thought to put stickers on cars that whiz by at 200mph!

And then have 1,000s of stickers on the same car! AMAZING.

Ultimately I think this is why marketing people are always trying to cut through the clutter and get their ad to shine.

It makes you wonder to when you reflect on your marketing, how can you cut through the clutter? How can you make your ad stand out?

Have you ever thought about that? What things have you come up with?

Yes on craigslist. Most companies post a ad like this:
Landscaping Services
Landscaping- 5 years experience
call mike
425-425-4254

And Sometimes you'll see Licensed and Insured.

So I made up a colorful flyer that stands out. Made my title stand out from the rest as best as I could. And then I list my most of my services.

And it has worked. I have talked to my customers and they have told me.

What program did you use to make that flyer or template, I like it?

Here's my ad, a little dull, but I actually bid a ladies yard maintenance yesterday off an ad like this.

I used 2003 ms publisher. I just got the new MS works for 2007 and it did away with publisher and all they put all the publisher features in with MS word.
Anyways you can use a template on there. I would put a picture of your best yard on there. If you don't have one then get one off the internet. And uses that. I think the picture is valuable. People see the pic and want there yard like that.

You have a nice ad.

I seen a ad in my area and it looked like a website.

I have posted a ad on craigslist for my area and I tried to put a picture in there and have been able to how did they do that?

I like the flyer idea! I am guessing you can use html to add an image to your craigslist ad?

Tim - After you make your ad,flyer, or whatever you make up. You save it as a image. jpeg,gif,etc. Then what I do is go to one of these two websites and upload your ad that you saved as a image.

www.photobucket.com
or
www.allyoucanupload.com

After you upload it you can copy the html and paste it on your craigslist ad.

The second one is the easiest to use because you don't have to have an account. But if you make an account (free) with photobucket then your pics will always be there.

This is the easiest way I know how to do it.

As you have been experimenting with the ads on craigslist, do you find that they get more response if they include graphics? Or do simply text ads work better?
