10 Steps to Better Communication

Well, you made it through another week. Hopefully it was a good week and hopefully business has been good to you.

Today I had the privilege of speaking with Scott Buitta of American Lawn Care in Pembroke, MA. Scott’s been in business for 19 years and has a wealth of knowledge about numerous subjects including lawn care, marketing, web design, and many, many more. I really enjoyed our conversation and I look forward to speaking with him in the future.

Now, even though I called him to follow up on a purchase he’d made from my website, I felt like I was the one that had received the service because he shared many valuable insights, ideas, and comments.

In fact, one of the things he shared with me was so good I asked if I could pass it on to you. So, straight from the wall of Scott Buitta’s office is a list of 10 steps anyone can follow to be a better communicator:

1. Listen
2. Watch
3. Ask
4. Have patience
5. Be optimistic
6. Be a problem solver
7. Strive to always improve
8. Be courteous
9. Always maintain your composure
10. Keep your word

As a business owner myself, I found the list to be very insightful and I have no doubt that each one of those steps will help me be more responsive and serve my customers better.

I encourage you to think about the way you communicate with others, particularly your customers AND employees. Is there any room for improvement? I know there is for me.

Finally, if taking your business up a few levels is one of your goals for next year then I strongly encourage you to take a look at my ‘$15K in 2007′ program that begins on Wednesday, December 27th. For a few select LCO’s, I’ll be working with them personally to supercharge their business and kick it up a few notches to add serious profits to their bottom line.

You can get all the details and sign up information here:

Anyway, I hope you have a fantastic weekend and I’ll ’see’
you again next week.
