I just installed a SSL certificate on The Lawn Blog...it is in testing...can you guys visit the site and let me know if it all seems to be working. the 'http' in your URL bar should read 'https' now.

Technical meaning...

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers.

So what it will do for me is...provide me with a SSL certificate and provide my visitors with one. I can access the data and make changes to it and my visitors can read it...in short.

SSL is mostly used for websites that have shopping carts/online shopping... it's use to protect the data when you enter your credit card number when your purchasing items. You will notice in your address bar when your in Secure more when your address changes from http:// to https:// and the little lock is on. This means it's secure and the data is encrypted into computer language that is decrypted at the other end
