Our friend Rich Eckard sent me these photos of his parade pics. When I asked him about being in the parade he said: "Being in the parade has help my business because alot of people that would be working when i'm mowing are at the parade and see my business first hand. Last year it rain and we didn't have the local parade but this year i have to call the local paper." Does your community have parades? Are you going to be in them?

Well I think everyone knows about our parades here.

Rich gave me a little more insight into the parade "A lot of the other lawn care owners but there equipment in the parade and i thought it would be a good ideal. My uncle made a wagon like that to pull behien his tractor. We throw about 10 gallon worth of candy during the parade. Thanks Rich"

Jason and I were talking the other day about what we'll do with the lawn tractors we have when we buy Z-turn mowers... we're going to make one "race ready" and see about getting into some mower races (if they even have any around here). The other, we'll "pimp out" and make it more or less a "show mower".... lots of chrome and such...

We said we'd put them both in parades... and our Z-turns, too... have 4 mowers in a parade and you'll surely get some exposure for your business... Kinda like the Shriner's do with their little go-carts...



We could have our truck behind that with all signage and our trailer with our kids throwing candy and stuff....

What do you guys think?

anyone ever thought of selling concisions and trinkets from a stand on the parade route?
Thats my goal for next years mardi gras.
but I have to find out what licenses and permits I would need.

Hi Patrick,

I think that is a great idea and I am glad to see you are inspired to do that. I do think it makes a difference and it builds up awareness.

Maybe you could even dress up for the kids like as a clown with face paint and hair and all that. Remember how magical these things were when you were younger and then try to add to the magic!

This is another great idea. I used to go to the fireworks and a guy I knew would show up and walk around in the crowd selling these glow in the dark sticks and glow in the dark necklaces. At first I was like 'what is he doing?' But then as the night went on, the entire crowd was aglow in these glow in the dark items and he walked home with a lot more cash!

So that sure taught me a lesson! There is money to be made! Maybe you could even sell the glow in the dark items if it's near dark.
