I started in May 2007 on Craig list my slogan was Your mower my service! It worked ok I got 3 customers and was so surprised it worked. So in June I changed from that to putting my mower and weed wacker in the back of my car. I now have 14 customers none on contracts. I feel like I can’t ask for a lot due to the way I come across no truck, just not very professional. I will be getting a truck next year. What do you think.

Lawn care business tips

You know what I think? I think this is fantastic and you are a genius! You should run with this concept. In your marketing you could say something like "no expensive truck, no expensive trailer and I pass all that savings on to you my customers." "I am a hard working new business owner and I will do whatever it takes to get the job done. If there is one thing I have learned from serving in the military, it's the can do attitude." "I can make your lawn the best on the block." Or something like that. I don't know if I would even get a truck for a long while. Why not get a cheap trailer and hitch. Roll with the low cost image you have!

I also think if you get a picture of yourself next to your car looking like that. We could put together a little story and send it off to the newspaper, I bet they would write an article about you and that could really help with word of mouth!

Here is an idea, why not have Tony from AMW Graphics get you some vinyl lettering and stick it on your car.

I bet you would get a lot of attention from doing something like this.

This is cheap and cuts to the chase. I don't ever remember seeing this and that is why it just might work!

Or maybe even change it to say "Hire me to cut your lawn." That might make it even more personable.

Nothing wrong with a mower in the trunk. That is how I first started out. Mowing neighbors lawns and then when I turned 16 I threw my 21" mower in the trunk of the car and mowed lawns that way.
