Are we gonna see $4.00 a gallon gas this spring?

If so how do you think that is going to effect things?

Lawn care business tips
I recently tracked my fuel useage over the course of a normal day & granted my routes are not as tight as I want them. *I found at the end of the day I averaged about 5 miles bettween stops (I get 10 miles per gal with truck & trailer in tow), Ran my mower 15 minutes on an average stop (which converts to about 3/10 gal per residential lawn) & over the course of the day I used about 1 gal of *2 cycle for all the hand tools. *So I figured I use about a gallon per cut all said & done. *Fuel going up that much means prices have to as well. *& I think most people will understand it but it should be raised accordingly. *If it goes up a buck, I might raise prices a buck & half to two dollars... *To cover the other costs that increase with fuel..... Maintenence, parts, oil changes etc.
If fuel goes up a dollar I don't think prices should jump $5 bucks at a time ya know?
What do you guys think?

I can see how at a certain point, there had better be some alternative fuel sources or a lot of people are going to be hurting. Yikes!

In another post we we're talking about those propane coversion kits, I contected them & here is a price list they sent me. My machine has a 23 hp kohler, They said the kit would fit & work though it is not epa certified for that engine as of yet which doesn't matter because it will be considered as a retro fit on a used machine so it doesn't need to be epa certified.
I still have no Idea what it costs to refill these things though?

CONVERSION KIT DESCRIPTION

Did they tell you what kind of tank it is? I am guessing once you know that you can contact a local propane refilling facility and get a price on the cost to refill? I think that would be important to know along with how long the tank will last for? How many hours of operation.

I asked him in my email, how big the tank is & how much is it on average to fill? His only reply was that it's like your average forklift tank, Which doesn't tell me anything... I've never owned a forklift have you? They boast longer run times bettween fueling & better fuel economy. but big deal It doesn't tell you much that way..... They should advertise the average fuel cost per hour as compared to a fuel or diesel mower that would give you something to go on.

I totally agree.

Do they ship you the tanks empty and then you get them filled or how does that work?

If they don't ship them to you, maybe they can give you the name of a supplier?

Hey here is an idea. If you are interested in using these tanks, contact them and ask if you can get a set up for free or at a discount and we will promote it here in a future GopherHaul show and podcast. You could call in and tell us a little about how the procedure was of putting them together and post some pictures. It might be worth it to them to get the exposure.

Maybe I can help you get this at a discount or free! You never know unless you ask

I would be worried about over heating. I am not a mechanic but a friend of mine that restores old cars for a living once told me that a gas engine converted to propane will run hotter. That is a big investment only to create an overheating problem. But then again the differance may not be enough to make a differance.

I wish our gas was $4/gallon. Last summer during a peak of about two weeks it hit around $1.30/litre ($4.95/gallon) and they are saying it will probably hit $1.50/litre ($5.70/gallon) at its peak this summer. Last time I was in Vancouver in February, it was ranging from $1.15 to $1.20/litre ($4.37 to $4.56/gallon)...so consider yourselves lucky.
