Default Indy Guy not Being Shy

Hi I'm Scott, greetings from Martinsville Indiana. This is my first time to the forum and new to 'Gopher Haul media' (exciting! thanks Steve)

What an awesome place to be plugged into. I am in my sixth season of business with "Indy Garden Works" Though I have been in the industry for over twenty years. I have observed steady growth and development but ready for business to be developed to the next level.

Increased marketing, branding, and service options will be a part of this and the "Gopher Haul experience"

Thanks all

Scott

Hi Scott,

Welcome to our forum!

Many members struggle to get through their first year. As you have made it to your sixth, how do those struggles change? Or do they?

What kinds of things do you need to do when you reach your sixth year to keep pushing forwards?

Default Steve's question

Very appreciative of feedback and interest here thanks and thank you Steve for an exciting question.

Steve the first season can be tough but probably more scary than anything... wondering whats next.

comparatively my third season was the most difficult as I remember being so overwhelmed and ready to throw in the towel - financially strapped, poor money management, robbing from Peter to pay Paul just to cover expenses.

I have been in the industry since I was fourteen but discovered that having knowledge about your craft and being a business owner are very different thought processes. I knew nothing about business ownership six years ago.

Today is a much different picture, in my first years I thought I had to do it all. I thought I can not afford to have someone working for me. Just this past week I added our second part time employee. Today my belief is I cant afford not to have someone working for me.

I always worked part time jobs during the year to make ends meet and have work in the winter. This year I have been totally self employed since Feb 15th and the business has covered all my expenses both business and personal.

I am very excited about 2013

Steve, the struggles have definitely changed, it seems each season has a theme of growth in different areas. This year I have done the most to work on my business rather than in my business.

Scott

Default New thread

Can someone help explain how to post a new thread? I had the same challenge trying to register for the forum, It took me about 30 minutes to locate and figure out how to register. I currently have spent five minutes seeking how to add a now posting thread but would rather have help if available

well lets see on the top of the page is a headline, under that is a brown bar that has lots of words one of which is FORUM. click on that an then scroll down to differnt topids click on one of them which ever one is the best for your post then scroll down to the the little brown button on the left side that says NEW thread

This is very interesting too! Do you have any advice for those entering their third year? Things they need to look out for or avoid in order to not have it as rough as you experienced?

Why do you feel the third year was so rough? What about that year can be different from others? Was it just buying too much equipment or something else?

I am obviously missing something Steve. The FORUM link does not have a drop down bar on my end. The only features that drop down are the search and quick link tabs neither of which seem to allow posting a new thread. So far I can only post to existing threads and invitations. Maybe I have a setting in the wrong place which prevents me from posting new threads. It is very frustrating since I have now spent nearly twenty minutes of time trying figure this out. It should not be this hard (I might be the cause but I don't know)

Default Success

The light bulb is on! well I have discovered how to post a new thread however seems to have nothing to do with FORUM tab contained within brown bar and has everything to do with the Forum Jump menu box contained within some of the pages. I am not 100% certain on how to get this option to appear upon command but know it is to be found and what to look for now. What a relief!

I wonder how many others have struggled with this matter?

I took a moment to cut and past this reply in order to explore the option further to try and find the answer. ANSWER: in the second Brown bar from the top the sixth tab from the left is titled Quick Links, click that tab and scroll down to the heading 'user control panel' (the only underlined and active heading) once there scroll down until you see the Forum Jump Box and within that scroll down menu are the options for new posting.

New question sparked from this experience: Does it matter how you accomplish the task as long as the result is the same?
