When you reflect on other lawn care businesses in your area that you feel are doing better than you, how much of it has to do with their community standing?

How important is community standing?

WoW Great topic, I feel this has a trimendus role in being the better business, becoming active within your community is a larger part of growing your business there is so much positive that comes from it. This isn't a short trem thing you have to continue to do things, but pick them wisly.

Name recognition.
Become a piller of the community

Just to name a few.

Do you have any advice as to what groups a lawn care business owner should be involved with?

How should a lawn care business owner get to the point of being a pillar of the community?

Would that be like the commuinty services that we have talked about before for churches and things like that.
What about sponsoring things like a little league baseball team if you have the money or things like that?

Perfect examples Rob, little league teams are not very expensive to sponsor, girls vollyball and softball are also good ones, maybe host a BBQ and horse shoe throwing tourney at the local VFW anything like this would be good, you would get newpaper and local news to advertise it and they would be getting your name out there.

Try and become a meember of your community business mans assoc. you can get alot of referals from it and it make you stand out just a little more.

Wow.... great ideas Rob and Tim... I would say, though, that Churches should not be considered community service or whatever... churches, in the long run, are businesses, too... non-profits, maybe, but businesses nonetheless... this means that they have money for lawn care and such.... unless you run upon a smaller church that doesn't have much land, has a small building and not many members... there's one you could count as a service to the community... especially if it's right in the middle of town or something.

Can you think of others in your community whom you would describe as pillars?

Why would you describe them as pillars? What have they or do they do?
