Default Already Thinking About Snow

I know that its a little bit early to be thinking about snow, but today one of my customers, whom owns many properties asked if I was interested in taking on of the snow for his 17 condos including the road for this development. I have two commercial snow blowers that I use on my residential customers driveways. This would be my first actual plowing account. I have been looking into buying a plow anyway and this contract would be a good start. I think I could get $20 per 2-lane driveway per 2 inches. So a total of $ 340 for driveways. I am not sure what to charge for plowing the road. Not even a mile of a normal 2 lane neighborhood street. I am located in Ohio.

I think you are shooting way low. I dont drop my plow for less then $35 as for the road you really need to think about a few things 1 insurance (you could be held responsible for anything that happens) 2 what kind of truck/plow and 3 SNOW STORAGE is there room for you to store a winters worth of snow?

As for the road I would charge about $150-$200 a push minimum. But I dont know if I would even consider that. It will probably be more of a headache then its worth. I plow 35 drive ways and small commercial lots (2 gas stations an insurance office, and a hair salon)

Do you really think that 17 driveways in a row are waste of time. Not even 2 hours of snow blowing for $340 bucks.

Also both roads dead end in a circle because the the development is not done yet. I believe there is plenty of room for snow storage. I was thinking $ 200 a pass. Keep in mind this is a growing development. That has a possible plan for 50 condo. This in the future would be Lawn, Landscaping, and Snow removal. So right now I want to make sure that my rates are competitive to keep him happy for the future.

I didnt mean it was a wasre of time, I think you should be charging more. Think of the wear and tear on your stuff. If something breaks you either need to be able to fix it or buy a new on on the spot.

so would you be doing walk ways?
$20 for every 2" sounds like great money with 17 of them
what about salt and sand
the road how many passes would that take in a 18" storm?

There really isnt much of a walkway and all of them are identical. No salt or sand.I am not really sure how many passes it would take. I am new to truck plowing.
