Lawn care business tips
Hi, there are a variety of book you can buy from the administrator Steve Low. It's some great information in them.

Credit Cards are a must have. Never buy a spare tire for any trailer. Use only a fleet of reel mowers (saves on gas). Charge a standard $15 a cut to gain clients. Ryobi products are great for a few months-that should get you started well on your way. Finance everything and buy new. When in doubt, lowball to keep your schedule filled.

Good luck starting out, you can really learn a lot from here.

Welcome to our forum!

Give us a little of the low down on what is going on, are all four brothers going to be in with this business?

I'd figure with that many people to start, you all must know a lot more folks that you could network with and help get the word out about your business.

Make some business cards and start calling up or visiting all the friends and family you have around town.

Wow i didnt expect this big of a response! Thanks everyone. Well as of right now we are about to buy some cheap blowers and start fall cleanup to gaiin some clients for next season. Also trying to get our hands on as many books as possible too! No credit cards yet but we already bought flyers pretty much just saving every reciept, logging every job we do, starting am address book, and ordered bussiness cards. Im hearing alot of talk abt DBAs and LLCs whats the better option? And only 3 brothers are running the show as of right now until the 4th one gets out of the military. Thanks again everyone!!

i was gonna ask why it was 4 brothers when you had jon, billy, mike but this post answered that for me.
first off i wish your brother a safe journey home if he is is fighting abroad and you can thank him for me for his service that people like him past and present that afford me the way of life and opportunities that i have.

second, i wish you all the best in starting your business.

third, gain all the knowledge you can about every aspect of the industry as well as every detail about running a business.
i think it is a unique situation you have with being 4 brothers and on top of all of you mastering your craft you should break things up for the learning and discovery process.
like one brother does the research on marketing and one brother researches business management and the other looks into all the finer details in local laws and requirements and so on.
then when you guys sit down and talk business you can go over and share all the things you learned.

the nice part about your situation is that you are family and you can do everything as a team and share the burden so all the pressure is not on one individual.
as the old saying goes, there is strength in numbers and you guys have something that most of us don't which is to go at it alone.

good luck to all of you.

Welcome to the form! my only suggestion is for you and your brothers to sit down and agree what responsablities each one would be responsable for and to put it in writing. Nothing like being half way through a big job and finding out no one filled up the gas can on the trailer because everyone thought the other person took care of it. Or getting a fine for a expired bussiness Lic because everyone thought the other brother took care of it. The list could go on and on (been there done that). Remember that your in business and when your working your partners not family. You can be brothers when the work day is finished and your shareing a beer together. Just some advice.

I'd say just keep it simple. Get a dba. Then later if you all find yourselves enjoying being in business you can scale it up to an llc or s-corp. But why not just keep it simple now and see how you all like doing it first?
