Talking Food For Thought!!!

Every well groomed lawn should start in the form of a definite purpose plus a definite plan in the nature of a set of blupprints of the mind. Imagine what would happen if one tried to service a lawn by the haphazard method, without plans. Without unity workmen would be in each other's way, mowing, trimming, edging, blowning, and etc. Everybody on the job would have a different notion on how the service should be rendered. Result, chaos and misunderstanding and unsatisfied customers that would be prohibitive.

If success depends upon power, and if power is organized effort, and if the first step in the direction of organization(being organized)is a definite purpose or definite chief aim, then one may easily see why such a purpose or aim is essential.

What is blowning?? I love organization. I mow in reverse while drinking beer. Although it can be chaotic at times when i run into the guy trimming. I just need a guy to go around and do some blowning??? That would make my service complete and I beleive we would be a unified crew.

i think every well groomed lawn should start out with a plan of selling them a irrigation system and a 6 step fertilizer program. to ensure that mow boy will be there every week of the season with no slow down periods, so mow boy can walk around with a giant sack of cash from each and every one of his customers.

the funny thing is, a real high quality manicured property is the furthest thing from nature and is as unnatural as it gets.
everything we do and everything that gets done to a landscape is a by-product of man and is a manipulation and perversion of nature.

in the wild nature takes care of its own and the eco system is diverse and in a manicured landscape the majority of the insects are pests that damage specific plants and the lady bugs and praying mantis and all the benificial insects stay away.
you will always find the carpenter ants around your house and the lacebugs on your azaelas and andromeda and the black vine weevils on your rhody's and the thrips and leaf miners in your boxwoods.
and then we come along and spray them and eventually they build up a tolerance to the products and so on and so on.

there are things you can do to help offset that but the bad bugs will always out number the good ones on a man made landscape setting that is anything but natural and in harmony with nature.

but at the end of the day what can i say, i love what i do and that is how i pay the bills.

Can you tell us a little about how you utilize this when you take on a new customer or how you may use this in your sales presentation to attract that new customer?

Well, Steve from a broader aspect it has lot to do with salesmanship, because after all we are selling quality service is that not correct. Maybe I should be a little more specific. When first meeting a new potential customer, be cautious to make sure you give a good impression of persona(first impressions when meeting someone for the first time). That along will carry you a long ways with that possible customer, if the situation is handled correctly. So be professional about it. I know this is a tad bit off topic, but hey we're all here to learn. Right?

I like it and think using such a presentation would really make you stand out from others who aren't as professional. Good job!
