Did a little trimming around the house today, didn't work at it to long, just snipped them quick.

With the small amount of clippings, I wouldn't bother with the tarp. Take your blower or rake if you don't want the clippings left in the beds and blow them out and mulch them with the mower. They break down quickly and it's a lot less work for you.
