First attempt at hedging

This is the first time I have ever even held a hedger in my hand. Looks ok I guess, could have been better.

Not as simple as it looks, huh?
Tricky spot too with that damned post in the way.

I use upward, "arching curve" sweeps ending in the center/top as I move around the shrub.
I then repeat to neaten it up - mostly just to make the top curves even.

The real b!tch is when you have twin shrubs that need to be sized/shaped identically.

The bushes were never cut before, so they were pretty bad, this is at my parents business. It was crooked when I started, the other bush is way worse, I did my best to try to straighten them out.

The bushes at my house, and then my moms house are next, i'm going to keep practicing. I want to offer this to people, but I don't want it looking terrible.

If it wasn't for that pillar...

Top right & top front is a little heavy, I'd personally have to be in front of the bush to actually see whats going on, good stuff!

Not your fault.

Shaping hedges is a pain in the arse, every time you look away and look back from a different angle, you'll always find something more to tweak lol.

Keep up the good work, and show us how you tackle the next one!
