Default Help bidding staining new fence

the total length is 606 feet, 6 feet high

303 feet inside and 303 feet outside.

Is there a calculator available anywhere that can help me figure how much redwood stain that would be needed? The fence has not been coated with anything, it is ready to be stained so no prep work is needed. It is in the original installation condition.

Cool

Lawn care business tips
you could just go to home depot or lowes and ask one of the guys in the paint dept what the average coverage is for the redwood stain they sell and let them know it has not been coated before .. expect it to soak up half of the first coat due to it never being coated before ...if it is allready dried treated lumber .. just dont expect it to only take one coat if you do it will prove you to be wrong in a few months or so.. and that will make you not only look bad but could cost you big$$$ in the long run...

Cool

thats 3.636 sq ft if your stain covered it at 250 sq ft per gallon you would need 16 gallons ... i would say ball park it at 30 gallons or less ...

Wrong Wrong WRONG!

1. Wood needs to be prepped, especially when it is new. This is due to the milling process crushing the cells when they are cut. You need to open them up again.

2. HD or Lowes carries some of the worst stain that you can use. You will have an unhappy customer in a very short period of time.

3. There is no way you will get 250 sq feet of coverage from 1 gallon.

Do yourself a favor and call the guys at SouthernStainAndSeal.com a call and they will tell you how to do it right and even help you with the pricing. Tell David that Pat told you to call.

Is the wood pressure treated and how old is it?

Lowes paint/stain is trash (you never see pro painters there)

Home Depot 'BEHR' Consumer Reports and others give it very good reviews. BTW go to the customer service desk and tell them your a pro and they will give you 10% off paint/stain the more you buy every year the more you save

BEHR is one of the worst for flaking and peeling. Not to mention that it is very expensive compared to what David carries. It is also harder to coat evenly since it is a film forming stain. The suff those guys carry will never flake or peel.
