Default Home Show Display Ideas

Hello Everyone! As part of my 5 year business plan, I am going to have a booth at a home show in March. It's 3000+ home owners crammed into 1 weekend. They are active home owners looking to pursue changes to their home/property, which should garner a lot direct leads!

As I am an adult with some design skills, I don't want to go buy a science fair cardboard backer and tape pictures to it. I want something with a lot more personality and flair.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!
Chris

Lawn care business tipsLawn Care Business Book
This sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

There have been a bunch of previous conversations on home shows that I wanted to point out to you. These links should give you some good reading and ideas.

Here is a picture of one member who had a putting green at his booth where he gave away some prizes to kids.

Home shows marketing

How to market at a home show on the cheap.

In need of Garden Show marketing ideas

One of the ideas from that was to:

Quote:
  • have a free giveaway raffle at the show. Have three prizes. A grand prize worth $250 of lawn care service. A second prize worth $150 and a third prize worth $100.
  • Create a postcard the person needs to fill out. Have them include their mailing information and ask then two questions. Do they already have a lawn care provider and would they want you to provide them with a free estimate.
This is a great way to acquire potential customers to market to. He pointed out it's much easier to get a customer who already uses a lawn care provider to switch to you than it is to create a new client who doesn't use an lco.
Do these ideas get you thinking about more ideas?

I don't have any experience with what you're planning on doing, but I'll give you some ideas. You could get a display banner made at a local sign shop, similar to the one in the picture. But look at other concepts when at the place, because that's probably very expensive, and I don't know if you want to spend a lot of money.

Another thing a forum member did in the past was to have their trucks all done up with sign graphics and business card displays. Then they got to the show early and parked in the front row. This helped them get out a lot of business cards to people walking by.

Thanks guys for responding. I have read all of this threads about the shows. I'm not looking for how to display or even signage. I'm looking for something eye grabbing in my booth.

For instance, maybe a teaching tool like a cross section of several pieces of sod with good, better, best root growth. Or a cool wooden sign display.

Something outside of the box.

Do you want to have some sort of giveaways? Like X amount of free lawn mowings? Maybe people could put their contact info into a fish tank that you pull from at the end of the show? Then you could use the collected marketing material to market to them in the future for your services?

How eye catching do you want to get?

Do you want to hire models for the trade show? That could help you stand out and be eye-catching.

I think that would be a great idea too! And then you could talk about how you could improve their lawn.

Oh and here is another article from my blog.

Tips for promoting your lawn care business at trade shows.
