I made my first one and it worked ok but it just wasn't heavy enough. Here is what it looked like... So after thinking about a PVC one and going through all the hassle of making it and making sure it didnt get snagged on anything on a customers property, or get caught under the deck, I decided I would just bite the bullet for the Factory Made one. It's very expensive, $400, but after I mounted it on and used it just one time I could instantly see a huge difference in how much better it stripes. I'm not saying the PVC or a rubber flap isn't going to work, they do, but the factory made one that fits my Scag mower is spring loaded and presses the grass down so well, I'm glad I went with it. I paid for it in a weeks worth of mowing so I figured I'd be better off and it'll look more professional to go that route. Here's how the factory on looks on the machine

When I adjusted the chain, the length was perfect to the point I would never run over the pvc, that was the only good thing that came out of this. I'll take a pic maybe tomorrow of what the final modification looks like, and you guys can be the judge. Personally, I can't wait to throw it all out lmao.

PVC works, your just not using enough weight. It has to be heavy enough to bend the grass. Get a 3" or 4" PVC pipe and I bet you a coffee it works.

I spent less then $10 on mine but I spent some time finding out what does and doesnt work first.

use an Iron pipe instead of ABS Wastepipe. lead flashing is REALLY heavy too.
