Default Huge Job!!!

I'm still not sure exactly how this calculator works. I am bidding on a job with 15025 square feet of lawn and yes that is 15,025. I'd say on a scale of 1-100 it's a 65. There are steps with patches of lawn, slopes, tree planters, various angled slopes. I think I will need to use my 22 inch Toro for the small area and my ride on john deer with a 42" deck for the larger areas. This is going to make for a lot of bagging and unloading as his grass is about 5" at the present time.

So, as per the calculations. There is 15,025 sq ft of lawn and 1584 linear ft of edging to do. The estimator only allows for a measurement of 999 linear ft.

Am I using this wrong? Am I to enter in a different measurement and use that mowing time as a template to apply to this job? Or am i entering my measurements that I am bidding on
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi JLM, thanks for the reply...It's very hard to say. At first looking at it with my equipment that I have I'm guessing all day...I thought the calculator helped for estimating the time it takes to do the job. Honestly I've never done a job anywhere close to this size before so I was trying to figure out if the calculator helped with the time estimate based on the yard size...

15,000 sq ft? How is that huge? I cut 900,000 sq ft before and the trimming took a man 9 hours to do.

Well 15,000 is the average size lawn, it shouldnt take more then 45 mins to mow.

I think it would be best to figure out what your worth per hour, also im sure that you can handle the job in less time than you think. I charge 40.00 to 50.00 per hour. I bid my mowing by the hour and it works for me.

What I have done a few times in the past which has really saved my butt is explain to the client you really appreciate the opportunity to provide a quote, ask if you could do the first job by the hour to ensure your price is fair to them and to you.

It comes down to the terrain and the equipment you have to do the job, this has worked well for me.

It's hard for us to say a 15,000 sq/ft job will take an hour without seeing it, I have some it would take 45 min, others may take 90, where I live aside from hills is exposed granite which really eats into the time.

You are not entering it wrong, I need to expand that field to allow for larger numbers.

These downloadable lawn care estimation calculators don't have any data input limitations.
