Chainsaw question

So after much shopping around I got my first chainsaw on Saturday. I had a few questions. First I noticed a mist of oil from the chain when running, on my Polesaws it says this is to much out and the valve needs to be turned down on it. I looked and saw no adjustment, upon further reading I find the new saw has a non adjustable gear driven oil pump. Any advice on this or are you screwed to just use the amount of bar oil the pump wants to pump out? On my polesaw I have to check and clear the oil lines every now and then, I don't see any oil lines when taking the cover off the chainsaw, the directions have no mention of checking or clearing the lines, any ideas? Last is a short video I took that I would like explained to me. Every time I get new equipment I make a list of parts, plugs, filters exc exc and always keep a stock of them in my shop, I pulled to cover off to get this air filter number and saw the intake on this thing is like none I have ever seen, when the butterfly in the carb opens about half way it activates a linkage that opens another butterfly which appears to be air only. New saw I bet the mist of oil is bar and chain oil.

It's fine for the chain, you want it using a tank of oil to every tank of furl, the more oil the better

I'm no expert, but I think some brands ooze more bar oil than others.

I have a Craftsman and it leaks bar oil like crazy. No sense adding it unless using the saw, otherwise it all ends up in the bottom of the carrying case.

When I run the saw, I can spray a "line" of oil on the ground when I wind it up.

Yes I am sorry the oil I speak of is bar oil, It has a gear driven pump that does not have any adjustment on it, my polesaw has an adjustable oiler so I was caught off guard at this gear driven no adjustment system but figured it was not possible to have to much oil. I also spoke with the dealer today and they told me the intake question from the video is an air injection system, He actually told me he knew the higher priced saws had them but until our talk he was not aware that the brand of saw I purchased had them as well. It leaks a tinny bit of oil in the case but because its a gear driven pump, if the gears are not driving its not leaking so the case stays pretty clean so long as you wipe the saw down before putting it away. I am an OCD clean freak so I practicaly rebuild it before putting stuff away lol

you most likely have the same saw as he does.

the longer you have it the more it will leak, and the poulan saws have had that carb for a couple of years so it is not uncommon I would not worry about it.

I agree I normally set up a saw to have a mist off of the chain, that way I know that they have enough bar oil. it also helps keep the oiler from getting clogged.
