Default How to get new customers in the middle of the season

Hello everyone, I've got several lawns of forclosed homes that i maintain but now im interested in moving my lawncare position into a more fulltime position. I'm wondering though I know it is hard to do, what is the best approach to gaining contracts in the middle of the season? Thank you everyone for your insight.

Lawn care business tips
In the past, I have received calls from people that start out mowing their grass, until the summer heat kicks in, and they rather be inside watching the game and drinking a cold one.

ADVERTISE.

There are a dozen reasons people look for lawn service mid season.

Just moved into a new home
Moving to another location, but need lawn maintained until house sells
Injury
New baby - no time
Just plain tired of doing it
The last guy did a lousy job
The last guy raised his prices

I picked up people all season long last year.

Do you market to the neighbors of your current customers? If you are already there, wouldn't it be nice to mow the neighbor's lawns too? They may be more comfortable hiring you because they see you around.

No I have not tried that all my properties so far are bank owned foreclosed homes. I am thinking of having some yard signs made up to place by the curbs of these homes when I mow them. Is this a good idea? Also Im thinking about getting magnets made to put on my truck but wonder if it would give a professional impression or a "Fly by Night" any opinion?

All those ideas sound good. You want people to find you, so try lawn signs, truck signs, all that. Get business cards made and reach out to people. The more serious you take your business, the more serious others will too.

Default Look for the in a hurry lawn guys!

What I look for any time of the season to produce new clients.
1. Rutting from big 60" ztr mowers......Selling point!
2. Crack weeds......Selling point!
3. Improper edging practices receding bed lines groves cut into sidewalk or pavers etc......Selling point!
4. Exessive grass clumps left by them mow and go boys......Selling point!
5. Herbicide drift that burns the edge of turf facing bed line......Selling point!

Try not to be in to big a hurry in your daily operations and seek out those who are... If you find yourself too busy hire a part timer and keep on mowin!

Google! Contact Google and have them mail you a packet to fill out so you can register as a lawn care provider in your area. Use a ton of key words when doing this. I get a couple calls a week from Google, just for basic things but when I get there I do a pretty good job upselling! Maybe advertise for Aeration right now... tell your customers to spread the word that your aerating and offer them an extensive discount for referrels . Good Luck

The more interactive you get with the potential customer, the better your chances are of making a sale.

As the season warms up and people get tired of mowing themselves, they will want some help. Maybe even create a flyer that uses a similar headline to get their attention.
