Default Thanks for all of the ideas

All the replies are appreciated.

I spoke with my old man and he said that when he had a construction business his magnetic door sign flew off when he was driving...he thinks.

I am leaning towards getting an outdoor banner and wrapping around something.

Thanks again!!!!!!

Lawn care business tips
Happened to me once as well... and my bro in law... just take it off every once and awhile and clean the area....also, make sure it is flat when you put it on... If I take it off, I usually put a couple of heavy books on it the night before putting it back on....no issues since doing that

I use vista print magnets they are on there second year and yet to have one fly off .

But I do plan on having truck lettered this year as I feel it looks more professional

Only had it on for two days, everyone asks for cards now...especially at the gas station... only bad thing is I have to put the ramp back up after getting the mower of while cutting lawns so people can see it.
You should always put your tailgate back up for safety someone could trip and fall over it. Someone around here got sued for someone falling over the wheelchair lift on their handicap van

This will be my 4th year using magnets on my truck. They are starting to warp a bit, probably from heat and cold cycles. I've never had one fly off though. You've got to get good magnet material. Not the thin cheap stuff.

Yes, the thin magnets are cheap matterials.
(we only use thick high quality magnets)

Here is a tip.. keep your paint in good shape by removing your magnets atleast weekly and cleaning the back on the magnets and the truck.
They can permently attach to the paint if left on for a long time.

For those guys wanting to letter their truck(s) we are going to be having a special coming in april for truck lettering and graphics.

Using manets for truck signs, does not mean you have a commercial truck, and therefore may ( I did) have trouble using the truck, and it's expenses as a tax deduction. Having lettering permentantly on your truck makes it much easier to prove to the IRS that the truck is part of the business. (You also have to have a second vehicle available to use for personal errands) wife's, mom and dads, etc.

Also banner matterial will not last using it that way.
It will get by for temp usage, but it will shred at some point and be a danger to other drivers. So keep an eye on it and remove at any signs of a rip or tare. You want to keep your liability down as much as you can.

Aluminum or a outdoor durable plastic should be used with vinyl lettering, paint, or a digital print over it.
It would have cost you about the same...maybe $20-$40 or so more for the right matterials and it would last much much longer (5-10 years depending on which type was done).

Yes the irs perfers your truck be lettered and only used for biz.
But also a lot of clients will feel your a pro if its lettered vs the magnets that can be removed anytime you "dont want to be in biz" or be hard to find.

Just offering some advice.
Have any questions let me know.

Tony

A few of my customers called because of the veteran owned. It helps and if it's kept a few hippies from calling, I don't want those types of customers anyhoo haha

Well I have been using this for a year now with driving around town and 65mph with very like weathering and I am sorry by plywood I mean plastic B-board cut in 1/2 and cut down to 7' 8" so I could fold the banner over every corner. I know a "Pro made" sign maybe best but spending $120 last year was about $50 more than I wanted to. BTW I glue the banner to the b-board front and back
