Lawn care business tips
true about some renters but they have friends and getting mail returned still costs money.

Some renters, rent because they like just calling someone when there is a problem and may not get mowing as part of rent

i've gotten good responses from flyers so far this year. i don't knock on doors and obviously i only drop off flyers to houses i want. nj is very suburban so it's possible to get 100 flyers out per hour as long as im not wasting time trying to talk to people. unless they are standing in their front yards i do not try to engage them. instead, i just place the flyer wedged slightly under the doormat or wedged in the storm door. for me it's a numbers game so the more flyers i can put out per hour the better. plus i can listen to music while i do it, so i kill 2 birds with one stone.

What do your flyer have on it, how do they look, do you have a starting price, what time of the day are you passing them out? I have a company that I pay $150 for full color front and back gloss postcards if I want it design they charge $225 for (5000) they can ship anywhere in the usa for about $20 more I just go an pick mine up.

I have posted a ad in local paper for 4 weeks now 2 calls, over 300 door hangers (8 hours delivering) 1 call and post 4 different ads on Craigslist (45 min) and have gotten 6 calls. About Craigslist try to re list one a day so you are always update customers don't always look through the past postings. Then I did joint Service Magic which I got one job from and little pricy but you are targeted to customers that want a service so you are a little more likely to get the job.

I have done 3 jobs: 1 landscape, 1 mulch and a spring clean up. I also have to new contracts. This is my first year in business and i am figuring out that you are never going to be ready to start work and handle estimates. So far so good.

My flyers are simple, black letters, white print. I'll attach it. No prices or specials, just info. I usually make copies at staples, or even better, I have my mother print them out at her job for free.

I like to pass them out in the middle of the day, say between 9:30 and 3:30. This way people are mostly at work so I can pass out a large quantity with little interruption.

If you run more then 1 ad at a time or relist more then once a week. CL will start flagging, deleting, and ghosting your ads.

You need to get a persons attention the first few seconds is all about do i read this or just toss it.
You need a big flashy head line. but you also need to stand out from the other 20 lawn care guys out there.
I have about 8 fliers that I rotate through out the season
I just attached a couple as examples. I have had great results from them but it works out to 3 new customers for every 1000 fliers you put out.
Word of mouth is the best advertizing you can do so get out there and blanket an area and keep at it till you get 4 or 5 customers and then they will sell your company for you.
