Termites in Mulch!!!

Has anyone ever heard of this???

I had a customer that I was talking to about needing to mulch her flower beds and she said that she had to have an exterminator come out and spray and get rid of them because they were all thru her mulch!

I have never heard of this has anyone ever ran into this problem before????

Yeah, she probably uses wood chips.

She has to make sure she buys the mulch pre chemically sprayed to ward off any pests. To see what I've seen would turn anyone's stomach, it's like a garden made of bugs man!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!

I do know that Chinch bug like to winter over deep in the mulch along with several other lawn pests.

We do not have termites in this part of the country, I have seen ants in mulch however if it is properly sterilized there should be no insects.

Eucalyptus-no more bugs in the the mulch. Bugs HATE eucalyptus, and yes you can buy eucalyptus mulch.

I think mulch next to homes is a bad idea because you increase the potential for things like this to happen.

What about upselling them on removing the mulch and using stone instead?
